Mix one Google ad with 50,000 hits and Walsh was in business. She was doing freelance work for small businesses and building an HTML tutorial site that offered free graphic templates for other kids (that's right, kids). "They taught me to go after what I want in life, to never settle or give up." So while most sixth graders were teenybopping to to their favorite music videos, Walsh was teaching herself to code and design websites. "My parents were entrepreneurs, and growing up I saw how their hard work and perseverance paid off," says Walsh. And now, after several years of working together, the 27-year-old is a partner at the firm, where she leads a team of six designers and two interns in New York City. He's had a very big impact on how I approach design and business," says Walsh. ![]() "I loved and respected work, and wanted to meet him. It all began nearly five years ago, when she sought out Stefan Sagmeister, the principal of Sagmeister & Walsh, which boasts clients ranging from Universal Music/Jay Z to the Public Art Fund. She creates sophisticated, wildly original ad campaigns, websites, apps, films, art installments, books-there isn't anything this 21st century prodigy can't dream up. Now, Walsh is continuing her journey of designing and art directing work that defies genres (and gains accolades from the finicky design set). They've just finished writing a book, and have sold the rights to the film. After they launched the private journal entries of their dates on a blog, it went viral, receiving 8 million visitors since launch. For a personal project, aptly named Forty Days of Dating (), she and her friend Timothy Goodman decided to date each other for 40 days, as a way to explore their habits and fears, and learn more about the nature of relationships and love. ![]() The numbers say it all: 70 of design students are women, but only 5-11 of creative director positions are held by women. She created HTML and CSS tutorial sites that offered free. She began teaching herself coding and designing websites at age 11. Jessica Walsh was born on Octoin New York. I found that sometimes women were unsupportive of one another, possibly because our chances of reaching the top are much slimmer than for men. Jessica Walsh's view on success is simple: "Success to me is doing what I love, continuing to learn and grow, and having fun doing it," she says.
